This month saw Code 7 stick to delivering some crucial activity work, hence why we have been quiet on the news front recently.
The atmosphere amongst the young people is a concern at present as we have firsthand knowledge of what is happening in the community. We received visits from local police who were also concerned about the well-being of the young people when they are out on the streets. We have taken all advice and knowledge into consideration and have implemented actions to minimise the young people’s chances of being caught up in violence on the streets.
Key young people are working closely with us to give the young people who use our services and resources the support to keep them thinking, promoting and acting positively and responsibly.
AND SO, we have received our capacity building contract from Lambeth Council and are looking forward to the challenge. We have already re-structured and upgraded our board of directors and are shaping up nicely for this new financial year.
We have employed 4 additional staff to our administration and promotion departments and are ready to employ 3 more young people, taking our employment total to 10.
A successful outcome from one of our funding applications to Lambeth NHS has given the young people who attend Code 7 an opportunity to take part in a new and exciting project. We will be advertising this new idea nationally once we have secured copyright as best we can.
We are now moving into our 2nd year for our BBC Children in Need project and will be taking our service for the young people up another level to ensure they receive maximum benefits from their hard work.
Our Lambeth Children & Young People’s Service contract also arrives at its 2nd year and we have seen positive changes in young people who were not giving themselves any chance. The benefits for the young people are there for all to see; recorded tracks, changes in behaviours, hours put in for accreditations, self assessments, reports, etc.
